Because Real-time reverse transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) takes several days between testing and result, measures that shorten this time are essential for minimizing onward transmission. 

Rapid strip tests are lateral flow immunoassays, that are quick and easy to perform, with no additional equipment. They are designed for individual use, or a limited number of samples; and, provide results in a short-time frame (~20 min). This ensures timely interventions, or isolation of the affected individuals, in order to avoid the spread of infections.

Rapid strip tests that you can order at Bioactiva use immunoassays with nitrocellulose membrane, colored nanoparticles and antibodies to produce results. When a sample is added, the sample will flow along the test-device binding to the reagents situated on the membrane and forming a visual-colored line depending on the quantity of the target present.
